Moth Cut To 4/1 Favourite For Investec Oaks After Guineas Third

Moth has been slashed to 4/1 favouritism by Coral from 7/1 for the Investec Oaks after finishing an eyecatching third in this afternoon’s Qipco 1000 Guineas.

Coral initially went 5/1 after the race but immediately laid a surge of bets on the horse forcing the Stratford based firm to clip it further into 4/1.

Guineas runner-up, Just The Judge, has been cut to 6/1 second favourite by Coral from 20/1 with Hot Snap, a huge disappointment this afternoon, pushed out to 10/1 for the Oaks from 7/1.

“Moth put up a hugely encouraging Oaks trial in the 1000 Guineas and is bred to improve over a longer trip, so deserves her position at the head of the market”, said Simon Clare, Coral Spokesman.

“We initially went 5/1 about Moth for the Oaks but were immediately knocked over in the rush and after laying hundreds of bets in just a 20 minute spell took evasive action and went 4/1”, added Clare.

The victory of Sky Lantern in the 1000 Guineas was a break-even result for Coral.

“The defeat of Hot Snap saved us a seven figure payout as we had loads of doubles running onto her from Dawn Approach, but Sky Lantern was still very popular with Richard Hughes on-board so it was only a break-even result”, concluded Clare.
