Dawn Approach dominates Investec Derby betting
Moth and Secret Gesture are the 11-4 joint favourites with Coral for the Investec Oaks, ahead of this week’s Musidora winner Liber Nauticus at 3-1, following the latest entry stage for the Epsom Classics.
In the Investec Derby betting, Dawn Approach remains the red-hot evens favourite with Coral, with Battle Of Marengo, one of seven Aidan O’Brien-trained contenders left in the race, the 9-2 second favourite.
“Any one of Moth, Liber Nauticus or Secret Gesture could start favourite for the Investec Oaks, with that trio dominating the betting, although we expect the Cheshire Oaks winner Banoffee to be added to the mix as well, and she is the other contender quoted at single figure odds at present,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
“By contrast, the Investec Derby market is all about Dawn Approach, and Jim Bolger’s charge has shortened at the head of the betting in recent days without leaving his box, such was the impression he made when winning the Qipco 2,000 Guineas, and also because none of the other trial winners put up a performance of any great authority,” added Stevens.
