12/5 Everton can win battle of the depleted line-ups at White Hart Lane

| 06.04.2013

All Tottenham need after a high octane Europa League game in which they lost Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon to injury on Thursday night is to come face to face with the blue embodiment of the Premier League’s world famous fire and brimstone bluster. A rested-up Everton can be backed at 12/5 to register a rare away win, with Spurs having won just once in their last five games.

Much looks to be against the Toffees as they travel to White Hart Lane in a bid to keep their Champions League qualification hopes alive, with their already average away form exacerbated by the fact that they’re missing shining lights Marouane Fellaini and Steve Pienaar through suspension.  However the twosome are far less integral to the team they seem, with Everton boasting greater win and lower loss percentages this term when the pair weren’t selected to start.

The visitors lack of league away wins – two since September – is a cause for concern, but they’re resolute, losing on just three of the 11 road trips in that period. With this in mind more conservative punters may consider backing them in Coral’s double chance market at 4/6 or plumping for the draw at 9/4.

Everton maybe able to cope without their better players, but things are going to be tough for a tiring Tottenham side without the wildcard magic of the injured Gareth Bale. Of the last six league matches in which Spurs earned points the Welshman scored the decisive goal on every single occasion.

When it comes to beating Spurs, David Moyes has his own reliable go-to-goal-guy in the shape of Nikica Jelavic, who has registered a vital goal in both his blue-shirted meetings with Spurs since signing on the dotted line from Celtic. He can backed at 9/1 to inflict more pain upon the beleaguered Lilywhites by scoring first or last, or 10/3 to register any time in the match.
