Coral has made the landmark decision to continue to own, and to breed from, their star retired racehorse Annie Mc, in an exciting next phase of their recently-launched Coral Racing Club.
The nine-year-old, Annie Mc, was diagnosed with a paralysed larynx in February and retired from a very successful racing career in which she won £124,000 of prize money and seven of her 18 races, including a Grade 2 Mares’ Novice (limited handicap) Hurdle at Newbury, and two Listed Mares’ Chases at Doncaster and Warwick.
The Coral Racing Club was launched in November as a free-to-join racing club with five racehorses in training, and members receiving regular behind-the-scenes content and access to thousands of race-day tickets and stable visits, as well as the chance to own the Club horses when they run and keep a percentage of prize money.
Last week, less than five months after its launch, the Coral Racing Club passed 100,000 members and is continuing to grow apace. The members can now look forward to receiving behind-the-scenes content on Annie Mc’s breeding career.

“Annie Mc has become incredibly precious to everyone at Coral and all our Coral Racing Club members, not to mention our ambassador Chris Hughes, and the Jonjo O’Neill team who have done such an amazing job with her through her racing career, so it was a no-brainer to keep her in the family and embark on a new exciting breeding phase for our Coral Racing Club,” said Simon Clare, Coral spokesman.
“The Coral Racing Club now has over 100,000 members enjoying all the behind-the-scenes content on our racehorses, and the vast majority of them will have no knowledge of the breeding side of the sport, and so breeding from Annie Mc will give us a great opportunity to deliver insight and excitement about this fascinating aspect of the sport.
“We needed to move quickly, and Annie Mc is now in France and thanks to bloodstock agent Matt Coleman, we have secured the leading French stallion, No Risk At All, to cover her in the coming days. We hope Annie Mc will prove to be as good a mum as she was a racehorse and all being well we look forward to seeing her offspring running on the track in the Coral Racing Club colours in a few years’ time.”
