Prices shortened on trio of weekend winners

Following victory in the Game Spirit Chase at Newbury, Coral have cut Altior’s chances of Cheltenham Festival glory into odds on.

The eight-year-old’s winning return at the Berkshire track saw those odds of a victory in the Queen Mother Champion Chase cut from 6/5 into just 4/6.

Another winner on the same course, Native River, has also seen his odds cut for the Cheltenham Gold Cup – from 8/1 to 6/1.

Meanwhile, Saint Calvados produced a commanding victory at Warwick and has duly gone from 10/1 to 6/1 to triumph in the Racing Post Arkle.

Coral’s David Stevens said: “While Native River’s Denman Chase success has breathed new life into the Gold Cup market, Altior has stamped his authority all over the Champion Chase betting, and he joins the growing list of odds-on Festival ante-post favourites.”

Stevens added: “Market leaders Buveur D’Air, Apple’s Jade, Samcro, along with Footpad, Laurina, and now Altior, are all likely to figure in plenty of bets over the next few weeks as interest builds in the biggest betting week of the year.”
