Shearer thinks Mourinho will continue his defensive approach when he returns to Stamford Bridge

Jose Mourinho will take the same approach as he did against Liverpool last Monday. I don’t see why he will change it. When he goes to a big team away from home he likes to sit deep and try and nick a goal and the game.
Manchester United stifled the game and Liverpool just didn’t have any answers. It was such an anti-climax. Everyone had been talking up the game for over a week beforehand and then it was such a bore. I’m hoping Chelsea v Manchester United is different but I’m not holding out any hope. Mourinho can’t afford to get beaten. He’s already got a worse record than Van Gaal. Yes of course we have to give Mourinho time, and a chance to get his team sorted, but it’s not been pretty from Manchester United in the last couple of weeks.
His team just isn’t doing what he wants it to do at the moment, he doesn’t know his best eleven and he’s got the conundrum that is Wayne Rooney. Some of the players he bought haven’t been as good as he would want them to be, at least so far. So he’s still scrambling around trying to find the right balance.
I’ll still be tuning in on Sunday but I don’t expect to see much different from Manchester United to what we saw at Anfield. If Matic and Kante both play for Chelsea, then they’ll have two holding midfielders sitting in front of their back four, with four offensive players free to attack ahead of them. But ultimately I can see it being more of the same from Mourinho away from home and it could be another tough watch.
