£5 Wednesday acca pays £337

Five to brighten your midweek

We have a busy night of fixtures on Wednesday, perfect for accumulator backers looking to boost their balance. Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League headlines, while Arsenal’s trip to Southampton offers support.

Further down the pecking order, and things are a lot less glamorous in the Scottish lower league play-offs, but there’s winning to be done, and profit to be made, regardless of the surroundings. We’ve run our expert eye over the matches and return with our top five picks. Follow our thinking and every £5 down pays £337.70. Prices and returns below are correct at the time of writing.

Atletico Madrid beat Real Madrid

Main attraction for lovers of the beautiful game, and Real are all but in the final, thanks to a spectacular hat-trick from Cristiano Ronaldo in the reverse of this fixture last week. Taking a 3-0 lead in to Wednesday looks more than enough to see them book their place in the final. We think there will be goals here, but Atletico owe their fans a win, while Real only need to remain competitive, staying within that three-goal margin to progress. 31/20 on the locals starts us off.

Arsenal beat Southampton

Arsenal sparked their season to life with a 2-0 win over Manchester United at the weekend and, out of nowhere, The Gunners are on track for a top-four finish and FA Cup win. With their place in the final already sorted, Wenger’s under-fire troops know victory at St Mary’s would see them pass The Red Devils into fifth, moving within three points of Man City in fourth. This is a must-win for the Londoners, and we have them to silence their critics at even money.

Raith beat Brechin

Raith were pushing for promotion to the Premiership earlier in the season, but their challenge fell apart, and they were dragged down into the relegation play-off spot. Raith are on a poor run of form, but are a full-time outfit and a year spent campaigning at a higher level of football should see them through this one. Our 13/10 looks massive, and helps boost up returns.

Airdrie beat Alloa

Airdrie’s big match experience will come into play here, and they are picked out to get the desired result over Athletic. The Diamonds have already beaten Alloa home and away this season, both by a 2-1 score. There shouldn’t be a lot in this one, but home advantage and travelling will make the difference to these part-time players.

Forfar beat Annan

This will be the fifth meeting of these sides this season, with Forfar winning three times already, including a 5-1 rout back in December. Each of their two trips to Galabank ended in 2-1 wins, and we’ll take a shot on something similar here. Away day rounds things off at a handy 27/20.
