£5 Sunday acca pays £299
Published:We make the decisions in the big games
Football followers love Super Sunday, but this weekend we have an extraordinary set of fixtures. Man City – Arsenal and the Old Firm Derby are just two of what promises to be an emotional day for fans and punters alike.
But where does the smart money go? Sunday is all about making up your mind and picking a side. You pay your money and take your chance. We have put together our idea of a handy accumulator, small stakes for big returns. Every £5 on our five-old pays just shy of £300, with prices and returns mentioned correct at the time of writing.
Man Utd beat Burnley
Man Utd were again unconvincing in front of goal against Anderlecht on Thursday in the Europa League, but we can’t ignore that fantastic win over Chelsea last weekend. Burnley are a tough nut to crack on their own patch – the challenge is down for United to win and move to within a point of City, who are on FA Cup duty. We give The Red Devils a chance, with Burnley having little to play for, at 4/6.
Liverpool beat Crystal Palace
Another bold call, with The Eagles on a great run of form, but at Anfield you have to fancy the locals. They are unbeaten in seven, and have won each of their last two, beating Stoke and West Brom. The deciding factor for us here though is the absence of Mamadou Sakho, who has been a rock in the Palace defence this year. On loan from Liverpool, he can’t play against his parent club, and will be a massive loss to the visitors. 1/2 Liverpool looks a play.
Man City beat Arsenal
City are favourites with us to go on and win the FA Cup outright. They don’t have the best record against Arsenal in this competition, but The Gunners really are in a sorry state at the minute and it rarely pays to support them with your cash. A top-four finish and cup win would rate as a fantastic season for Pep Guardiola at City, as he gets to grips with English football. 5/6 helps boost up our returns.
Aston Villa beat Birmingham
One of the easier legs of the five, and if Villa have their heart in this one, and haven’t already downed tools and gone off on their summer break, then they can be trusted to get the win. Birmingham are winless in their last nine Championship matches, and were beaten 2-0 by Burton Albion last time. 20/23 on Villa looks well worth a play.
Rangers beat Celtic
Game of the day in Scotland and we have an Old Firm semi-final in the Scottish Cup. The Gers go in unbeaten under new manager Pedro Caixinha, who has tightened things up at the back. Rangers knocked Celtic out of the cup at this stage last year, and in a derby, we can’t ignore the value about Rangers at 6/1.
