3 reasons why Wilfried Zaha is ready for a move to Chelsea

Conte linked with Palace forward

Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for Wilfried Zaha in this morning’s media.

The Crystal Palace wide forward has been a shining light in a turbulent season for the Eagles.

The 25-year-old returned to Selhurst Park after a disastrous move to Manchester United failed.

But the Coral News Team reckons Zaha is now ready to play on a bigger stage again. And here are three reasons why.

Mature Zaha now a leader

When Wilfried Zaha first left Palace to join Man United back in 2013, he was just 19-years-old.

He was arguably too young to join such a huge outfit, having never played in the Premier League before.

David Moyes had also taken the reins at Old Trafford that summer and, suffice to say, that didn’t go well.

Zaha returned to Palace and has developed into one of their best players and a hugely influential presence.

With four goals this season, including a strike in the weekend win over Leicester City, Zaha has been a major reason for the Eagles’s upturn in form.

Versatility

A few seasons ago, the Ivory Coast international was an out-and-out winger who would hug the touchline.

His dribbling was erratic at times and his final ball lacked consistency. However, Zaha is now starting to hone his abilities.

Since Roy Hodgson’s arrival at Selhurst, the Palace ace is now equally effective as a winger or striker.

His wiry, physically-imposing frame and good ball control allow him to hold the ball up.

And his menacing runs in behind Christian Benteke have been a staple of Palace’s recent revival.

Optimum time for a move

At his age, with one big transfer already behind him, this is probably Zaha’s best chance for one more big move.

If he waited another year or two, he could be priced out of joining one of the top six clubs.

In the current climate, with a contract at Palace until 2022, it’s going to take a big bid from Chelsea to prize Zaha away.

Upwards of £40m will probably do the job but Hodgson could hold out for even more considering Zaha’s importance.
