3 reasons why Tammy Abraham can shine for England v Germany

England odds

Chelsea starlet might play in Kane’s absence

England and Germany begin their World Cup Finals preparations with a clash at Wembley on Friday night.

There are a number of new faces in both squads with Gareth Southgate and Joachim Low keen to develop fresh talent.

Unfortunately for England, Harry Winks has had to pull out through injury. The Tottenham Hotspur ace has been a revelation this season and would have started against the Germans.

With Harry Kane also out, a starting berth up top has opened up. No strikers have been called up to replace the Spurs striker so Southgate will choose from his existing options.

That may well lead to a start for 20-year-old Tammy Abraham – the Chelsea forward on-loan at Swansea City.

The Coral News Team takes a look at why the young Blues ace could play a huge part.

Ideal Kane replacement

Gareth Southgate has looked to build a side around Harry Kane by utilising the 3-4-3/3-5-2 formation Mauricio Pochettino uses at Spurs.

In Kane’s absence, to continue the development of this, he will need a physical, mobile forward with the ability to do it all.

Abraham has a lot of those qualities. At 6ft 2in he is good in the air, links play well and is a good finisher.

Natural Goalscorer

With five goals in 11 Swansea appearances, it’s clear Abraham has what it takes to be a star in the Premier League.

And that’s for a side who are struggling at the wrong end of the table. In his previous loan stint at Bristol City, Abraham managed 23 goals in 40 appearances for the Robins.

While he still has plenty of development ahead of him, the Londoner can be a good back-up for Kane even at this juncture in his career.

German defence will give you chances

Germany’s approach is based primarily on attacking football. That means Die Mannschaft will always give you chances to score.

Low’s side have conceded in nine of their last 12 fixtures. A possible England front-three of Marcus Rashford, Tammy Abraham and Raheem Sterling can exploit the space.

With both Manchester wingers providing the width, skill, and final ball, Abraham can profit.

It’s all set-up for the youngster to cement his claim for a squad place at this summer’s showpiece.
