2016 WTA Finals Friday tips

With the Red Group now decided, it’s time to find out who will join Svetlana Kuznetsova in progressing from the White Group as the round robin fixtures come to a close on day six of the 2016 WTA Finals.

In-form Kuznetsova only qualified for this event after a late surge, and the 31-year-old continued to roll back the years this tournament after seeing off defending champion Agnieszka Radwanska and Karolina Pliskova.

The Russian now takes on winless Garbine Muguruza, who now has no chance of reaching the semis, while Radwanska and Pliskova battle it out to join Kuznetsova, as well as Angelique Kerber and Dominika Cibulkova.

Kuznetsova to edge Muguruza 2-1

Coral can’t split this duo in the match betting, with both priced at 10/11 to win, but the odds will no doubt sway right up until the match.

Grand Slam champions Muguruza and Kuznetsova have faced each other just twice before, with a victory apiece, but those were on the clay courts of the French Open and Madrid Masters.

Russian Kuznetsova defeated the Venezuelan-born Spaniard 2-1 in their first meeting last year in her adopted homeland, so is a tasty 3/1 price to exact that scoreline again, and thus secure top spot in the White Group.

Radwanska to beat Pliskova in straight sets

In the second and final singles match of the day in Singapore, Radwanska and Pliskova tussle in a winner takes all encounter as the pair have won a lost a fixture apiece this event.

However, Poland’s Randwanska is the heavy odds-on favourite to triumph, and for good reason. She’s reigning champion, while has won all six meetings with Pliskova without even dropping a set once.

That makes odds of 10/11 for Randwanska to claim a 2-0 victory highly enticing, given that she has already beaten Muguruza in straight sets this tournament too.
