2016 UK Championship round 3 tips

The Barbican Centre in York has witnessed plenty of drama already in the 2016 UK Championship, with some of the tournament favourites having exited in the early stages of this prestigious ranking event.

With both reigning champion Neil Robertson and regular tournament contender Judd Trump having fallen victim to father-son duo Peter and Oliver Lines respectively so far, this year’s event is wide open on Yorkshire soil.

So, ahead of the next baize battles across Monday and Tuesday, Coral outline 2016 UK Championship round 3 tips for fans and punters to enjoy for the latest action.

O’Sullivan to whitewash Georgiou

The week’s snooker action begins in style with tournament front runner Ronnie O’Sullivan taking to the table against Londoner Michael Georgiou, and the Rocket has been in unstoppable form so far.

Four-time UK victor O’Sullivan is yet to drop a single frame in York after 6-0 whitewashes over both Boonyarit Keattikun and Rhys Clark. The Rocket is therefore a promising 15/4 to record a third successive 6-0 triumph in his latest outing.

In-form Lines to topple Robertson

Following his shock success over Trump, Leeds cueist Lines is aiming to continue his surge through the UK Championship and he is next a tasty 11/8 to overcome Jimmy Robertson in round 3.

The 21-year-old, ranked 61st in the world, secured a victory over his upcoming UK opponent the last time they collided, earning a narrow triumph in Asia.

Allen to overcome Day 6-3

Fresh off the back of racking up his maiden professional maximum break in the win over Rod Lawler, Northern Ireland potter Mark Allen will be on a high against Welshman Ryan Day here.

The Pistol holds a 12-8 head-to-head record over Day ahead of their latest encounter and the in-form break-builder is 11/2 to prevail 6-3. Allen has not dropped more than three frames in his last four fixture meetings, all of which games he has won.

Maguire to take 3-1 lead over O’Brien

Scottish cueist Stephen Maguire boasts a dominant record over next opponent Fergal O’Brien, having won all five previous match-ups with the Irishman since 2001.

The Glaswegian potter is therefore 7/4 to take a 3-1 lead after four frames played in this round 3 encounter.
