Saint Are joined trainer George at the beginning of last season and ended the campaign with an excellent second in the 2015 Crabbie’s Grand National, staying on well to get within 1 3/4 lengths of the winner Many Clouds.

Ninth of the 17 finishers in the 2013 renewal when trained by Tim Vaughan, Saint Are is also a dual winner over the Mildmay Course at the National Festival, having captured the Grade 1 Doom Bar Sefton Novices’ Hurdle in 2011 and a Listed Handicap Chase in 2012.

Warming up for this year’s Grand National with a narrow victory in a veterans’ handicap chase at Doncaster on February 24th, Saint Are has displayed his best form when the going is good, and has just 10st 5lb on board him this time around. He is weighted to go well at Aintree.

Jump race record

Placed on 15 of his 35 starts, Saint Are has just five career victories to his name, but clearly performs at this course and certainly holds considerable each-way claims at the least – if he continues to replicate previous showings at the Merseyside venue.

This is evidenced by the bulk of his career prize money coming from outings at the Grand National Festival. Saint Are is a 25/1 chance with Coral to go one better than last year.

Starts: 35

2nd: 4
3rd: 6
