12 Years a Slave bookies’ favourite for Bafta triumph
Published:Following the announcement of this year’s Bafta nominations, leading bookmaker Coral has opened betting, making 12 Years a Slave the red-hot favourite at 2-5 to win Best Film, while Gravity is almost just as fancied at 4-9 to win the award for Outstanding British Film.
British star Chiwetel Ejiofor is the 1-3 odds-on favourite to take the best actor prize for his role in 12 Years A Slave, while Cate Blanchet is even shorter at 1-4 to take home Best Actress for Blue Jasmine. Best Director is shaping up to be a more competitive category, but Alfonso Cuaron heads the betting at 1-2, ahead of Steve McQueen at 7-4.
“This year’s Bafta film awards have already attracted huge betting interest and patriotic punters are queuing up to get behind Steve McQueen’s masterpiece 12 Years a Slave, after the critically acclaimed film received ten nominations,” said Coral’s Nicola McGeady.
