Small stakes for big returns this weekend
Domestic football is back, and not a moment too soon. For accumulator backers it was an unwanted break, sifting through the form of far-flung European countries in an attempt to build a World Cup qualifier multiple. We’re back to our bread and butter, ready to make a profit.
Big matches go ahead in all the UK’s major divisions, none bigger than Saturday’s Merseyside Derby between Liverpool and Everton at Anfield. Chelsea beat Crystal Palace
The Blues are expected to get the job done here, but they’ll have to roll up their sleeves and work for the points against a very well-organised, and confident, Crystal Palace side who won’t take relegation lying down. Conte’s crew are aiming for four wins on the bounce, at 2/7.
West Ham beat Hull
We get more of a price out of this one, and The Hammers enter winless in five, losing each of their last three, a run that has dragged then down to 12th. They have been impressing in defeat however, scoring plenty of goals and having a go – not missing Payet one bit. Each of their last two have ended 3-2, and if they score two again here they should win. 2/1 looks value.
Man Utd beat West Brom
One group who would’ve benefited from the international break is United, as they get the chance to catch their breath and take stock after a hectic period fighting on both fronts. West Brom are dangerous, but they have lost two of their last three, vs Palace and Everton, both without scoring. United will have to earn it, but they go in at 4/11.
Huddersfield beat Burton
The Terriers may be all out in terms of gaining automatic promotion, but they’ll want to give themselves the best chance of going up by finishing third. They have won seven and drawn one of their last 10, and that must be backed against a side with just one win in six. 8/13 will boost up our returns.
Fulham beat Rotherham
The Cottagers need points if they are to make anything of their season. 2017 has saw the Londoners play the kind of football we know they are capable of, and three points is a must against bottom of the league. There can be no more silly slip-ups. A win here could move them into sixth. 2/5 makes sense.
Bolton beat Chesterfield
Bolton are now in complete command of second place in League One, and we will see them plying their trade back in the Championship next season, hopefully a stronger side. They’ll want to finish with a flurry and can bag another maximum when challenged by second bottom of the league Chesterfield, who go on the back of two defeats. 4/11 lands on the pile.
Wycombe beat Leyton
Orient are in all kinds of trouble, and are probably as hopeless on the field at the minute as they are dangerous off it. They’re a Non-League side in-waiting, which is a real shame for their supporters. Rock bottom, they have lost each of their last four. Wycombe are in form and have a shot at the play-offs. 7/10 – we’ll have that.
Rangers beat Motherwell
Another big day at Ibrox and we should see an improved Rangers now new manager Pedro Caixinha has had the international break to work with the team. They blew Hamilton away last time, with everyone in the home dressing room now playing for their futures. I expect more of the same on Saturday at 1/4.
St Johnstone beat Hamilton
The Saints are underachieving this term, by their own high standards, but they are in fourth and will be looking to keep Hearts at arm’s length. It’s easy to go against bottom club Hamilton, who have lost four of five. Away day at 6/5 chips in.
Falkirk beat Raith
Finishing up in the Scottish Championship and Raith Rovers have completely fallen apart this year. They have won just two of their last 10, and we fear the worst against a Falkirk aiming for second place. 4/7 is about right for The Bairns.
